It would seem that I have been missing for over a month now, but really I have just been home. We are expecting another baby, but unfortunately for me that means months and months of being very sick. When I say sick I mean deathly ill. It's a good thing I was born in a time with modern medical technology or I would have died already :0(
Not to worry, if this pregnancy is anything like the last, I should be up and shooting again around March. It will just take a while for me to get better and get my strength back. Sorry to all my clients and friends who were counting on pictures this Christmas, I will do my best to make it up to you.

I can't believe my baby is off and going to pre-school. I thought I would be sooo excited, but I actually got a little sad when I dropped her off for her first day last monday. This is her in the parking lot of the school with her best buddy just before they went in. Oh man I feel old.

Today I took my daughter to the Ogden LDS Temple so I could take a picture of it for my grandmother's birthday. Old Chair

I have been wanting to re-finish this chair for a long time now (couple years actually) but never got around to it untill now. It is a chair that my great grandpa built himself so it is special to me. It was originally a dark brown stain that had faded and really needed some TLC. I was going for a white "antique" look because the chair is so old. I LOVE how it turned out and can't wait to do it again on more old furniture.

Recently had this really strange urge to crochet something... dont ask me why. So I took a little trip to the store, bought some yarn, a hook and then made a little visit to youtube to remind myself how to crochet. (I have not done it since grade school.) After finishing a long and terrible looking scarf, I decided that every ugly green scarf should have an ugly green hat to go with it. Apparently I dont know how big adult heads are, but it fit Madi perfectly. Here are some pics taken with my point and shoot of Madi ROCKIN' the green hat. I think she actually makes it look good.

New Prices for 2009

Because of our changing economy, I have simplified my prices for 2009. These will become effective March 1st. There are no more "one size fits all" packages, so you can customize, and only purchase what you need. I offer photography at a half hourly rate, and I have also made the High resolution CD an optional purchase for those who would like to keep costs down. I have also made changes like this to my wedding photography. It starts with a basic rate, and you can add-on things like albums and photography time.
For my clients that have already booked sessions and weddings, these changes will not affect you, unless you would like to switch to the new prices.

Why hire a photographer?

I often get questions from my clients about why they should hire a professional vs having a friend or family member take their pictures. I will always answer, it is an important investment. Here is a video that helps explain why you should hire a professional.

I got married before I became a professional photographer, and I made the mistake of just hiring anyone to take my pictures. He was a professional, but it was a disaster. I should have researched his work, and made sure that his photo style and personality matched mine. As a result I do not have beautiful photos to remember one of the biggest days of my life. I would encourage anyone who is having a wedding, research, meet with your photographer, and look at his or her work. If you feel that they can provide you with the photographic memories you want, then go for it, and invest in your photographs.

We took them at Mount Ogden Park, and some up on the golf course. We were lucky enough to not get snowed on, but we did have alot of spectators. On Wednesday I had the pleasure of taking some portraits of Scott. It was a great winter session and they turned out AWESOME! Scott has been in the Air Force for many years and was such a great guy to work with. My friend Tarra and I had a great time shooting his pictures. It is Funny how good things come into your life when you are not looking for them. Oliver did just that. He strolled on into our home about a week ago, and fit in just like we had known him for years. He is the sweetest little kitten EVER. He purrs and purrs and even puts up with a two year old toting him around. (he sits on her lap and everything) We love him!

My Twilight Review

Ok so my mom got me hooked on the Twilight series like everyone else. I went and saw the movie today and it was not what I expected, but I did like it. If you have not read the book/s, you should. Really. It is so much better because there are alot of details that you just shouldn't miss to connect with this twisted love story. The few things that I did not like in the movie were the Kung-Fu-ish-ness (i just made that word up) of how the vampires moved, and some things were "re-arranged" and skipped to fit the short 2 hours. Even with that said, the movie was very entertaining, and had alot of funny things in it. 4 stars for me!

I have changed my logo and website design. (for the millionth time). I have noticed that it is rather common for photographers to change their designs every year or so... I think it must be the creativity in us. We just can't seem to keep one design for very long or we might go crazy. Anywho... Hope you like it.

Of course I was super excited to get home and load all the pictures so I could play with them, but I had no idea they would be this fun.. There are so many that turned out amazing. On Saturday I shot Megan's Bridals up in Park City. She is getting married to her honey on October 11th. She is so stunning in her dress, and we had alot of laughs. Thanks to her pals for helping out with the details, and holding my big awkard reflector. Sorry there are so many, I just couldn't narrow it down to a couple favs. Can't wait for the wedding at Deer Valley.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies!!!

Warning: These cookies are highly addictive... Only proceed if you have alot of will power against sweet, moist, yummy goodness..

Ok so now that I have warned you, I have been home the last day with a nasty cold, and so I thought it would be a good time to post a great cookie recipe that I got from my momma. I have been eating these cookies since I was a little girl, and I swear they get better every year. On sunday my daughter and I baked up a batch of these little babies and they are already almost gone! Oh how I love the Halloween season. Lol.

Chocolate chip pumpkin cookies:

1.5 Cups Shortening
1.5 Cups of Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 Cup of Chocolate Chips (Milk or Semi Sweet)
3 Cups of Flour (white, not wheat)
1/2 Tsp of Salt
1 Cup of Easy Pumpkin Pie Mix (Make sure it has the spices already in it.)
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Tsp Baking Soda

Pre-Heat oven to 375 DegreesMix Shortening, sugar, egg, salt, pumpkin, vanilla, and baking soda together in a large bowl with a hand mixer. Then mix in Flour with a spatchula. (You may need to add a little more flour, I had to add a little more than the recipe called for, it should have about the same consistency as regular chocolate chip cookie dough, but just a little more sticky.) Then Mix in the chocolate chips. Place a spoonfulls a couple inches apart on a greased baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes. After Baking, let them cool completely and then frost. (I always put them in a tupperware container and leave them on the cupboard (not in the fridge) and leave them for a few hours. They get very moist that way and are SUPER delicious.

Now its time to make the frosting... yay!

Pumpkin Frosting:

1/2 cup Shortening

1/4 Cup Easy Pumpkin Pie Mix

3 Cups Powdered Sugar

Mix all together in a bowl with a hand mixer untill fluffy and sweet. (You may have to add more or less of some of the ingredients to get the consistency and taste you want... I kind of just keep adding untill it looks and tastes right.)
